Weight Watcher Dieters

Well, I lost 3 pounds this week (praise the Lord)...I don't know...maybe it had something to do with being sick yesterday :) Anyway, I got yelled at by weight watchers (online) because I'm losing weight too rapidly. That just makes me laugh. I'm sitting here thinking I'm not losing it fast enough, and they're telling me I'm losing it too fast. It just goes to show you that what we think is healthy, is not always so healthy for us. Today is going to be in reference to a comment left yesterday inquiring about weight watchers points system. The cool thing about Weight Watchers is that they don't ever tell you that you can't eat something. Everything is on the diet. WW is more about portion control. Yes...they would like for you to eat healthy things...they suggest that you eat 5 servings of fruits/veggies everyday and at least 2 servings of dairy everyday. Have at least 6 glasses of water every day, but these are not necessarily requirements. I will tell you personally, the closer you stick to getting those servings in, the better you will feel and the more weight you will lose in a healthy way. As far as the points system goes, they take your weight and your height, and give you the amount of points you should have each day. You are also allowed 35 flex points every week, to use as you wish either at the end of the week, or 5 points a day...whatever you choose. If you will go to their website, they have a little infomercial you can watch where they explain to you how everything works. www.weightwatchers.com In order to figure out your points, they have calculators you use that figures the calories into the fibers and then tells you how many points a food is according to the fat. It's a very interesting system. Hopefully we'll have a meeting at the church one of these days and when we have our first meeting , we could go over this for those who want to get more info. My family does weight watchers online because it works for us and it's cheaper than going to weekly meetings. Some people need the support of a weekly meeting, and that's fine, but we have a whole family that is doing this together (and I think we have enough people in our church) that we have our own Great support system. And even better, we're all brothers and sisters in Christ and this will help us in our Spiritual growth as we love and encourage each other to "remodel" the temple of God. I hope this answered some questions and did a little encouraging on the way. Until next time...Keep looking UP and God Bless!!!

Fat is Not a Feeling!

I just wanted to remind everyone who is on the road to "remodeling" their temple, that Fat is not a feeling. You cannot "feel" fat...maybe with your hand, but it is not an emotion. You can feel angry, happy, sad, but you cannot feel fat. Just a little reminder.

Due to a sour stomach, I'm not going to make this a very long blog today because I just don't feel like it. But I did want to put that little reminder on there for you. I hope this helps you with your day today and until tomorrow...Keep looking UP and God Bless!

Perfect Sunday!

Tis the season....for spring cleaning. It's getting to be that time of year. I know...nobody wants to think about spring cleaning. But maybe this will be a good thing for all. We get so comfortable in our everyday routine, that we forget to exercise. I would like to encourage each one of you, to get out at least 1 day this week and read a book in the sun, or take a stroll through the park. It's going to be beautiful this week, and I think that would be a great thing to do with the family. For those of you stay at home moms...take your kids to the park, and have a picnic. Let your kids play on the play ground...and hey...here's a great idea...get down in the sandbox and play with them. It's fun to revert back to your childhood. Get dirty....get real dirty...get dirt under your finger nails and show your kids you love them by spending time with them. Remind them that God made dirt...and it doesn't hurt after all. Show your kids the beauty of the world that God created...make this a learning experience for all who are involved. You can learn to better love your child, by knowing how they want to play, and they can learn from mommy and daddy, by understanding the creation of God. Make them realize its not just something that happened by coincidence or accident...it was wonderfully planned out by God and lovingly created with HIS own hands. But just because spring cleaning makes you think of cleaning your home...we also need to do some "Spring Cleaning" in our spiritual lives. You must remember, that on the way to remodeling the outside of God's temple, we must first remodel the inside. God will not truly bless until we are 100% in His will and wanting to do what He wants us to. Until we understand this, God will not allow us to fulfill our "fleshly desires" (of wanting to LOOK better), he wants us to renew our minds along with our bodies. Until we want to lose weight because it's a God thing, and not a vain thing, He will not be able to receive the blessing. We will constantly be looking at what "I" can do instead of what "HE" can do. Well, I hope this was encouraging to all. Until next time...Keep looking UP for your inspiration and God Bless!!!

Saturday Special

Okay, so there's nothing special about this Saturday. I was just looking for a title that I could use since it's Saturday. I'm at home for the time being, but about to go out and do some hard labor...yeah right! I just wanted to send a little bit of encouragement your way today. Saturdays and Sundays are a day to rest. You've worked hard all week and now you just want some time to yourself. Make sure to read yesterday's blog because it gives you ladies some pointers on how to relax on your Saturday off. For those who are busy throughout the week, you need to take some time out for yourself. Even if it's just 30 minutes, take a hot bubble bath and relax with some candles and soft music. Or you can just go to your room, lock the door, and read some encouraging verses from the Bible. If you have kids, have your husband take them to McDonald's for lunch to play and you can just get alone for a moment. This is very important, because as I said yesterday, in order to take the best care of your family, you must first take care of yourself. Well, this is all I have to say today. Please make sure to check back EVERYDAY!!! I will do my best to write something everyday. And we'll have a New recipe of the week on Monday, check back to see what it's gonna be! Until next time...Keep looking UP for your inspiration and God Bless!!!

Fun Things!

Well, for those of you who missed it, go to yesterday's comments and look at the 1 point chili recipe from Vicky. It looks wonderful and I can't wait to try it. If we have any men who read this, I'm going to apologize...this one is for the ladies today. I took some tips from the weight watchers website (because I'm an online dieter) and I thought I would share these ideas with you. I don't know about you, but I don't have a lot of money to pamper myself, so I thought this would be a nice thing to try next chance I get to "relax".

Weight Watchers In-Home Spa

1. Fresh Air Fix: Start with an early morning brisk 20-minute walk, followed by 10 minutes of stretching to get the blood flowing.
2. Drink Green Tea...it's good for you!
3. Good Hair Day: (this one is kinda weird, but I still wanna try it)...Put your full fat mayonnaise to good use for 0 points! For a simple moisturizer, massage one cup of mayonnaise into hair and scalp and cover with plastic, then wrap with a towel for one half-hour before rinsing. For shinier hair, rinse with a mixture of 1/8 cup fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and one cup of water. Pat (never rub) your hair dry and use a wide-tooth comb to detangle. (Sounds interesting doesn't it?)
4. Nourishing Food: Give your digestive system a breather by eating fresh, healthy foods that have not been processed. For breakfast, choose fresh fruits. For lunch and dinner, try a salad with colorful raw vegetables and lean protein; to warm up from the inside out, choose clear-broth soups or veggie bisques.
5. Set the Scene: Create a soothing atmosphere with soft lighting, scented candles, and soft music. Just spend the day relaxing with your favorite book in the tub or wherever you can get away to relax.
6. About Face: toss some dry herbs into a pot of boiling water and let cool for 2 minutes. Then stick your face over the pot of steam with a towel over your head for 5-10 minutes for a nice herbal facial steam. Then beat a few egg whites together and put on your face like a mask...allow to harden then rinse off with warm water.
7. Healing Touch: either treat yourself to a massage, (for those that are married, ask hubby if he will give you a well deserved massage) or you can give yourself a massage (not nearly as relaxing). Start with the neck and spine and work down. Don't forget your hands. Tug on each finger and massage the palm with the thumb from the other hand.
8. Salt Glow: Wet two cups of course sea salt in a bowl. Standing in tub full of warm water, wet skin then rub salt vigorously on the skin. Once whole body has been rubbed, sit in warm tub and soak in salt water before rinsing.
9. Feet Treat: Soak feet in very warm water with a capful of bath gel or bubble bath for 20 minutes. Pat dry and exfoliate with a pumice stone. Apply olive oil to soften cuticles; push them back. Slather feet with thick moisturizer, wrap in cling wrap and cover with socks for ten minutes. The warmth will help the moisture penetrate deeply. Remove wrap and rub in remaining lotion. This same procedure works for hands, too. (This one sounds great...can't wait to try it).
and Finally....
10. Unleash your inner princess: Vow to incorporate more pampering in your daily life. You'll take better care of your loved ones during the week if you've first taken the time to care for yourself.

I hope this helps you relax a bit. Even if you can do one of these every Saturday, I think we'd be much more relaxed and ready to deal with the diet and the family all at once. :) Have a Great week, and keep looking UP for your inspiration. God Bless!!

The Pasta Diet

For those of you who are new to this site, I would like to welcome you to the HBC Less of Me Group. We are a group of individuals who are simply trying to "remodel" the temple of God. The picture above is probably making you wonder. I was just wanting to let you know that these meals are sold at Walmart for $.98 everyday and at Kroger for $1.00 everyday. These are good meals and for those on Weight Watchers, it has the WW points already calculated on it. I wanted to clarify a little bit, this site is not just for people on Weight Watchers, we have plenty of people in our church that are on different diets. I am on Weight Watchers and know only about weight watchers. If you are on something else, and you would like for me to post information about your diet, let me know and I will do what I can.

Just to let you know, There is a place to comment. I have opened this up to anyone who wants to comment with a recipe or just to have a "discussion board" and talk with people back and forth, the comments section is there. Please use it and give me feedback. Let me know how I'm doing. If you have seen something (a sale or what not) that is not posted on here, post it in the comments...I'm sure everyone would like to know as well. Also, please read the comments that everyone makes because this is beneficial to you as well. This is a site to encourage each other and to draw strength from people that are going through the same thing you are. I hope it will help you.

For those of you who didn't see Jana's Pasta Diet on yesterday's comments, I will post it here.

First Installment

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! This is the first installment of the Heritage Baptist Church "Less of Me" webpage. One day, hopefully soon, we will be having our first meeting as well, but this is just a little bit of information to get you acquainted with what is going on. We are hoping to meet once or twice a month for a little while and just fellowship. We haven't done a lot of talking just yet, it is still in the preliminary, but I think we might do something with a different theme for each meeting. These won't be big themes, but it will be things such as, bring your favorite dessert and a copy of the recipe for all to share. We are very excited about this and hope that this will be an encouragement to those of us who are hoping for Less of Us in 2006 and the years to come.

We believe that our bodies are the temple of God, and we are supposed to take care of the temple, yet so many of us struggle with day to day life in a larger body. Therefore, Our goal in the "HBC Less of Me" group is to band together and encourage each other on our path to "remodeling" God's temple. There is a comments section and everyone is able to read what is written, so please feel free to comment and see what others are saying about our group.
